Crazy Pineapple Rules

The exciting Texas Hold'em variant with a twist

Note: Different Game

Crazy Pineapple is a Texas Hold'em variant, not a Chinese Poker variant. It shares the "pineapple" mechanic (receive 3 cards, discard 1) but is played completely differently from Pineapple OFC.

What is Crazy Pineapple?

Crazy Pineapple is a community card poker game similar to Texas Hold'em. The key difference is that players receive 3 hole cards instead of 2, and must discard one after the flop.

How to Play

1. Blinds & Deal

Same as Hold'em: small blind and big blind are posted. Each player receives 3 hole cards face-down (instead of 2).

2. Pre-Flop Betting

Standard betting round. Players can fold, call, or raise based on their 3 hole cards. More starting hand possibilities make this round more action-heavy.

3. The Flop

Three community cards are dealt face-up. A betting round follows.

4. The Discard (Key Moment)

After the flop betting round, each remaining player must discard one of their 3 hole cards. This is the "crazy" part—you've seen the flop and must decide which card to throw away.

5. Turn & River

Play continues as in standard Hold'em. The turn (4th card) and river (5th card) are dealt with betting rounds between them. Players now have only 2 hole cards.

6. Showdown

Best 5-card hand wins using any combination of hole cards and community cards.

Strategy Considerations

Stronger Starting Hands

With 3 cards, players start with more possibilities. Expect opponents to have stronger hands on average than in regular Hold'em.

The Discard Decision

The discard after the flop is crucial. Consider what draws you might hit on the turn and river before throwing away a card. Sometimes keeping a backup plan is better than committing to one draw.

More Draws Hit

Because everyone has extra cards pre-flop, more flush and straight draws are possible. Be more cautious with marginal hands—someone likely has a strong draw.
